WDS working

For those that were successful using it in the past, it seems Internet Explorer still supports JAVA. I thought Edge was just an updated version of IE. I found I have both on my laptop so I opened IE, downloaded JAVA and to my surprise, bmw-planet is working. Still need the exception on the JAVA console in the Control Panel.

Edit: In addition to bmw-planet, the WDS link below covers later models. The index page is Russian but the diagrams are all English. You need to add https://bmw.etk.club to the exception list and up the JAVA console Security to Very High.

I still have Firefox 52 on my desktop so it's still working there as well. Not sure how long Mozilla will let me go without updating.

Didn't know IE was still good for WDS, I also have an older version of Firefox that is working. I have updates disabled so we should be good lol.

Also if you download or have a online installer make sure you very quickly disable auto updates otherwise it will patch it before you can do anything...i'm sure you already knew that but I'd figure i'd relay it here.

Good tip, thanks. I think I have Firefox set to ask before update so i get a half dozen pop up to do so each day.

If I'm not mistaken there is a add-on that will disable the update auto check.

This is why I don't allow my Firefox to auto update. It breaks some addons, and it certainly breaks some important things such as the WDS.

I have the last WDS disc data, saving them for when that's the only way to do it. In a virtual machine WindowsXP.

you got a copy of that disk? i have a diag laptop but don't have a offline WDS

I did the same thing. I purchased it off Ebay for $10-15 I think. Have not tried to download it yet.
