I get an intermittant "check control" message sometimes when I start the car. Then "see owners manual". Owners manual say take it to dealer. Supposedly too many issues to display? Im thinking road trip to junkyard. Are these CCM's interchangeable?
Is that a Japanese version E32? Or it may have a jap. CCM? Because in Japan spec. E32 that procedure is standard when you switch ignition on. Just a test procedure if these warnings work.
In case there are too many issues to display, that looks different, see here page 24, then there is a plus sign http://750il.bmw7.hu/owners_manual/framed.html
All CCM are interchangeable. But you can also resolder it, see here the German instructions http://www.e34-welt.de/tips_tricks/R...0e34%20e32.pdf
on page 8 is the important picture, the red marked parts have to be resoldered
Shogun tricks and tips for the E32 series are HERE!
Its a USA version. I'll dig around and update.
Thanks for the links Shogun. I opened up the old one and examined it with a magnifying glass. Nothing real obvious stood out. It seems that during one of my many junkyard runs I picked up a CCM and forgot about it. I plugged it in and so far so good.
I get the same message on every shutdown now. Annoying. Its not from too many messages as I have other messages after for low washer and brake pads (forgot to install new sensor).

If you remove the CCM from your car, then you will always see the "Check Control" message. It means that the signals were not received as expected. The fix is to re-solder every pad in the CCM, which is tedious.
Spend this Quality time with your CCM! Use a 40 watt iron, outdoors.
