I'm finally ready to buy a standalone for my car and I wanted some opinions before I pull the trigger. I'm leaning towards the new ms3 pnp because of all the features that it comes with standard, but is it worth the $300 more than VEMS and $500 more than link? My goals for the very near future are 700whp on e85 out of my obd1 m52. I would really like to have the flex fuel sensor and I will be drag racing it. I do plan on doing the tuning myself, but if I ever wanted a professional tune in my area or even just help, I would be much more likely to find somebody that has experience with megasqurt based stuff so that is another mark for the ms3
As far as I've been able to find out, the PNP Link stuff won't do any knock functions without a separate knock controller, which I can't find anymore.
I personally lean toward the ECUmaster EMU/EMU-black offerings, but I think they only offer an M50 harness adapter instead of an actual PNP setup. Just to make your decision harder, lol.
I have the MS3PRO PNP on my E36 (OBD1). I have not had a chance to really play with all the functionality but there is allot there. Adding the ECU was good for about 20WHP on a NA S52 with cams and ITBs. I have no experience with the other options unfortunately.
I have been very happy with the support from DIYAUTOTUNE as well.
I've got A VEMS V3 for sale right now at only $500. I've used both MS2 and VEMS and i quite liked the VEMS more.
I'm now moving into Autronics.
