I live in Canada, and this car was originally imported from Japan. It is extremely hard to find parts for this 320i as it was imported. Does it have similarities to any other models such as the 325i?
I would start using http://www.realoem.com so you can cross reference parts. Then you will know what 325i stuff will work for you. I am assuming everything, but some engine parts is pretty much the same.
the bore and stroke are different than the m20b25. the head casting is probably the 731. the valves and ports are smaller on b20 731 head. other than the valves, pistons, and con rods, most everything else should be usable from the b25 and bolt on. there are usually a few weird things on jap models because rising sun. most of the regular suppliers like fcp, bavauto, pelican etc should have stuff for you.
I would try these guys, they have been very helpful to me. They can probably get the parts for you but I wouldn't expect them to stock parts for a Japan car. https://getbmwparts.com/

Same as the very early 318i IIRC.
https://www.wallothnesch.com/ has a lot of really rare, even NLA stuff. I've even used Ebay to get some parts for my gray market e21.
Hi ... I live in Saskatoon and have a euro '88 320i that was originally sold in Japan. Parts are available... you just can't go to your local Canadian Tire or Drivers autoparts store because they will tell you that your E30 320i does not exist, because it is not listed in their parts book. As suggested earlier, look up parts numbers on www.realoem.com then order from wherever can provide them online or local. BMW dealer can help sometimes too without ordering from Germany. Everything else mentioned above is correct.
... forty-three years of driving before I get behind the wheel of a BMW .... and I am thinking, "why did it take me so long?"
... and then after another 4 years I can't believe that I have two of them !!
