I love the coulour, that will make it stand out from the crowd. I don't know what the main colours are on cars in Croatia but here in The Netherlands the main fare is black, silver and dark blue. This is as most new cars are leased and the leasing companies have decided that these boring colours have the lowest depreciation and therefore making these cars the cheapest to lease.
So utterly boring.... exactly the opposite from your car!
Thanks.
Yes, the crap colours are present here too. Black, white and silver are the main 3.
Why in the world would you want Kjet???? All E24s post 83 are Motronic. Kjet is stone age
81 Euro undergoing total nut and bolt restoration

Keep the L jet compared to K jet. Having said that, I promise with the collective wisdom here. We can get it all back together from 8000 miles away. I wouldn't be afraid of the project all. Wish you were closer
how the hell are you doing all this in a single car garage?! my e21 is in a single car and I have the hardest time even putting it on jack stands sometimes!
looking fantastic though. i hope to have an E24 one day

No offense, meant as a joke
Yes im doing this in my small (now to cold) garage. When warmer weather comes i roll it out in the yard.
Now i have a few problems (apart from scratches made by me)
The rear bumper chrome is depressed at left top part
20181228_215320.jpg
The oem rear bmw emblem has its middle tilted a few degrees to the right!
20181228_215332.jpg
Cannot adjust the trunk, the bolts are on the closest position on both sides and still does the left side portrude quite a bit. Can the mechanism in the trunk be moved too to the back ot its just up and down?

If someone is still interested - car is on the road!
Engine is converted to MS2 based ECU with 714 injectors converted to hoseback and an modified fuel rail with an Audi S8 fuel regulator housing so now we have 3 bars of fuel pressure.
Bosch red coil with NGK plugs gapped to 0,9mm.
I think it should have about 210hp (modernish) now.
15 inch MSW rims with an 205/65r15 tires, stock brakes with Ferodo DS2500 pads
A few details are missing from the car yes but all will be taken car of soon

Wow! What a journey - in a single car garage no less. You are inspirational!
Cheers! Took a long time yes, ive had 3 drivers and bought 5 for parts in the meanwhile.
Here is the S8 fuel pressure regulator housing converted to the L-jet ramp - now the regulators cost 30$ compared to 250 for the original one

Spectacular progress! The FPR & injector conversions are clever, thanks for posting them.
I've been following your thread for years, your commitment is admirable. It's inspirational to see the dramatic evolution of your car. Like the caterpillar into the butterfly? Is that even a relevant comparison?
Save the manuals!

Thank you for the very kind words Dave.
A note economy wise, driven it about 1000kms post tuning. Im getting 17-18mpg(13.5L per 100km)combined but im driving it quite hard at times, that 272 cam pulls hard up to 6500 - just cannot resist it; also so the rev limiter was at 7500 for a while since i used a map for a built engine and i didnt know, it pulled like crazy over 7000
Combined with mostly open roads (70% open 30% city woth a few hard OT accelerations) i got about 20.5mpg (11.6l/100). All with the O2 sensor off. A few more tweaks and bits and im happy. The economy is a tad better than original and the performance and responsivity is on par with a M50 - minus the smoothness.
Hello everyone, hope all is well wherever you are.
Ive driven the car about 9000km until i lost compression on cylinders 5 and 6 (3 bar each, seems the gasket between them let go) and its getting opened up. Im widening the cylinders on 92mm an putting B35 pistons in it, got them for free. Cannot find B34 pistons anywhere and the compression difference is too small to bother (B34 head B34 pistons 10:1 and B34 head w B35 pistons 9.87:1). Also every cyilinder will be drilled corresponding to the state of the piston so that it has the minimum running gap - 0.03mm.
Here is a photo of the latest ICV mounting

I need a hand from you guys
The engine is out (yup i was too lazy to remove the hood
PXL_20220718_120433236.jpg
The plan is to build the engine a non cat B35 (9.2 pistons and b35 head with a bit of head decking - circa 9.3 compression); keeping the L-jetronic (standalone now) manifold.
It was the most powerful factory M30 with 220hp.
Here are the 9.2 pistons
IMG-20220714-WA0008.jpg
Now my question is - what is the running gap between the cylinder and the piston? Ive read somewhere that its 0.003-0.005mm (0.00118'-0.00196)?; and somewhere that every piston has a different running gap due the cooling effect
Can someone help?

Last engine update
I went with the 9.2 pistons paired with an M90 head (10.7 CR).
Factory 272 cam machined to take the late motronic rotor arm/distributor.
Crank balanced, now its under 0.3grams of balance weight

Great e24/Series 1 refurbishment journey! The paint looks very nice too & should be a hoot to drive with a fresh M90 rebuild.
Thanks for posting along the way

Thank you Sir!
So the final specs are
3.2 block bored to 92mm (B32 with no water between cylinders, rare)
9.2CR pistons out od the early E24 B35 engine in standard
M90 head (272 cam) giving the final CR of cca 10,7:1
Schmiedmann headers
Megasquirt based standalone
All in i expect cca 230-235hp from this frankenstein
Very cool--- which MegaSquirt system are you thinking? I'd lean towards MS3Pro for the featureset https://www.diyautotune.com/shop/msp...fi/ms3pro-ecu/ probably, but it really depends on what you're after. Hit our team up if we can help! support@diyautotune.com

Great thread - you may have got some better technical advice on engine specs from bigcoupe.com but the encouragement on here for you must have helped.
I have owned E24's for nearly 30 years now - I still have these two...

The Baltic blue one is a very early Series 2 car that I've owned for over 25 years - a 1982 635CSiA but it has been embellished with the M635CSi front and rear spoilers, wheel arch extensions and steering wheel.
The alpine white one is a 1985 M635CSi, Taurus red seats and I've had it for 18 years.
If someone still follows this thread - here is the car. Ive done a mortal sin and installed french fog lights on the car
