    1991 bmw 318is collectible?

Have an 91 18is and playing with the thought about selling it. Heard that good units are becoming hard to find and are very much sought after. Think i might regret selling it....! Any thoughts on collectability regarding this model.

a lot of it depends on condition and where you are. california has the lowest return on a sale as there is still a decent supply in good condition. outside of california and the dry southern states they get exponentially more expensive. they are all going up in value tho.

those are more dollar placeholders for rich guys than they are a driving car. they hold the same place as collectible trading cards still in the plastic. if that is the condition of your car and you see dollar signs dancing around your head go for it.

edit: for full dollar lunacy check out enthusiast auto group.

Mine is a driver and all original...after all they are meant to be driven. Mentioning the possible regret in selling the car was meant in a way that i would miss driving the car. Not the potential future financial gain. I could care less. Thanks for the input.

no offense meant or implied. personally i think the smiles per mile are worth more than a possible bolstered bank account when it comes to these. i'd keep it under all circumstances but that's me. my 325i has been off the road and under build for over two years and i routinely get 3 - 4 calls per month asking if i'll sell for double what i paid when it was on the road. i can't replace it for that value proposition, and wouldn't consider selling ever.

    No e30s, again :(
I sold one and immediately regretted selling it. they are hard to find in good shape and expensive now a days. if you don't have to sell it, I would keep it. even if you put it in the back of the garage because you got a new play car, save it till later because you will miss driving it
    No e30s again.

If you know your car and enjoy it...keep it. The odds of getting a solid e30 for what you will receive in return for yours is highly unlikely. Love, care, and drive that car She's worth it!

From a guy who bought one, did a ton of work to it, sold it, missed it badly and bought another one six years later: Don't sell.

I knew the moment I handed over the keys in 2010 that selling my first one was a mistake. Even my wife, who is generally ambivalent about cars, got choked up when the buyer loaded it up for the ride to Ohio. Last year, I bought a nearly identical 318is for well over double what I sold mine for, and the new one doesn't have the sweet black vinyl sport interior that I'd installed in my old one. (Sidebar: No way in hell can I hope to find front seats, rear seats and door panels in great condition for $250 ever again.)

Keep your machine. You will regret letting it go.
