    2015 F15 brake pad question

    Hi all
new to the forum (as in i just registered) but old visitor

ive learned a lot about bmw’s at this site but now i happen to have this doubt which is killing me hehe, let me explain.

I replaced the brake pads of my car (front and rear)without too much problem, and then reseted the messages, but recently a person told me:how did you do it? So i was like, well, just pull out the tires, some bolts, put the new pads, compress the caliper and thats it.

and then the question came up: how did you compress the caliper ? Because you are aware its electronic and cant do it the old fashioned way, right?

and here i am, car working fine, brakes working fine, parking brake working fine... so im not sure if they are actually electronic or not, what do you think? I havent been able to find detailed information regarding this matter and since i have to replace brake pads (again) in the upcoming months, i dont want to mess something (which is more likely i avoided the first time just because of luck).

what do you think? Any help is appreciated, thank you and sorry for my not so good english.

Since you don't say which F15 X5 you have...I'll give the link and you can search for the instructions on the BMW TIS website: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/

Help us help you better and include your model/model year/build date...there are multiple models and not everything could be the same. Knowing what model/model year/build date you have helps us to give you more precise replies, suggestions, answers, etc.

Once your vehicle info has been input into the sight...use the search box and type a few key words of what you're looking for...something like "replace brake pads"...or "replace front brake pads", or "replace brake calipers", etc.
