Quality improvements between e46 and e90?

I picked up an 03 325i because it was dirt cheap. The plastic, wood trim, headliner, and pillar liner is suffering all the e46 issues I've read about. I really love driving the car. I own a 99 Porsche Boxster and it looks no older than a 5 years so I know the Germans now how to make a lasting car. My daily driver is a 2015 Passat that gets me around and saves gas but it's pretty boring. I'm looking at a e93 convertible hard top to replace the VW (and e46) but not if those issues haven't been dealt with. What has been your experience?

E90s seem to have a problem with the interior plastic pieces being painted instead of having the color molded in. The paint peels showing white plastic underneath and it looks like crap...at least it did on my 06 325i.

The later models were better about the peeling trim.

Overall I think the E9x cars were a good improvement over E46 models.
