I would sure love to see an acceleration video of TxGR8Whites car...
HI,
I was the other 8er, while we compared our cars with Mikae31.
My feelings are, that in slow speeds difference was big in slow speeds, but in highway speeds it was hard to feel the difference. Maybe some day (after winter) we can make some videos from 0 to 100 km/h.
From 80 to 220 km/h is the true life, but due to greedy polices of Finland it's very hard to find a safe place to do that. Next summer I can make it in Germany, but Mikae31 is not on same road trip. In Mikae31's car fuel consumption was almost 50% more, mainly due to 3.91 differential, I suppose. Because none else haven't reported about big raise of fuel consumption.
Seems that there are no proven data available to see true differences between standard (like my E31) and chipped (Wokkw, Dina, someone else) ones, or are there?
Anyway, dos anyone know how Alpina B12 coupe 5.0 got its 350 hp?
With new chips or with mechanical & chip changes?
Alpina is always mechanically included to up there Hp
a lot of mechanical engine/drivetrain parts on the B12 Alpina are different, for example

It's good that alpina b12 coupe was brought up to this discussion because basically it proofs my point.
Like everyone knows Alpina has done many changes to their cars and we all know that b12 coupe has 350hp. Also we know that alpina has changed the diff to 3,45. What everyone should think off is that alpina promises b12 coupe to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 6,8s. That is the number we can rely on.
Now, it was tested, and posted here also, that my car accelerates 0-100km/h in sharp 7s. It is stock m70b50 with wokke V2 chips and 3,91 diff. This is only 0,2s more than what alpina promises to b12 which by all means is much more performance tuned vehicle. So basically what some of you are saying is that with these little mods like wokke V2 and 3,91 diff the stock m70b50 auto should become an alpina killer? I'm sorry guys but i don't buy it.
So until someone with exact mods makes a video, like mine, where you can clearly see that the car accelerates better i don't believe that there is anything wrong with my car. I strongly believe that this is what you can get out off your stock m70b50 auto with these mods, and it's not that much.

I went back and looked at your original 0-100 km video. You don't actually get wheel spin until 4 seconds, and you cross 100 km on the speedo at just over ten seconds. You are less than 7 seconds (I'm guessing about 6.8) and that is damn good for a 90's era luxo barge at near 2000 kilos. The same year M3 was 7.3 seconds and the M5 was 6.3. Further to this, these weren't built for drag strip performance, they were built for sustained high speed operation. 4 hours in an 850i on the autobahn at 200+ km/h would be a totally different experience in comparison to a M3 of the same year and same speed.
50% increase in fuel consumption for little increase in performance = something badly wrong!

No, i'm not happy. Not performance and not fuel consumption. I thought i had made it pretty clear. I understand that this is propably the best you can get out of your stock m70 with these relatively small mods. And that's fine. However the radically increased fuel consumption is a shock. So many times there has been discussion of how big improvement it is to install 3,91 and Wokke V2. Well i have experienced it now and because of so huge effect in fuel consumption i don't think it is worth it. I believe it is the short diff that is mainly the reason for this huge consuption.

this is video that i found. It shows stock car with 3,91 installed and acceleration is way better than mine. I measured that several times and i actually got under 6 seconds acceleration times from 0-100km/h!! About second faster than mine with Wokke chips installed. So now i need to figure out what the hell is wrong with my car
