    I'm struggling with $500 too but I'd do it if I was sure there weren't other issues like ABS or SRS that I won't know until it's lit up. Might not be a bargain.

    Sounds like you're screwed either way mate. Do they not require proof of ownership down there or is the dealer doin a "wink wink say no more" price

    It won't be a wink wink job. I'll have to supply the VIN but i don't know what else yet.
    I find out today if the car is even still available to me.

    I ended up with a quote of $100 for the key but they want registration details and it's not registered.
    I don't think the current owner ever registered it.

    Who has the title. Is this the result of a divorce and the parties aren't playing nice ? You may be better off walking away who knows there may be 5#s of sugar in the tank
