    M60 740i water pump

    Hi,

Can someone post a clear picture of the 740i pump ? I purchased one from Autohaus and looks like I got one that only has 2 radiator hoses only, and does not have a 3rd hose connector for the expansion tank line. My understanding was that the 540i pump has only 2 lines as the expansion tank connects to the rear water accumulator pipe and the 740i pump has a 3rd line that runs on the passenger side for the expansion tank?

    Thank you in advance.

I think I figured it out - difference between 11511742647 vs 11511742498, one has 3rd line and one doesn't .

    Hi,

Did 740i ever use 11511742647 water pump with a Normal style M60 thermostat and housing ? OR does 11511742647 pump require usage of the updated thermostats with the temp sensor built in (obd2 style) ?

This pump http://www.autohausaz.com/pn/11511742647 fits this style thermostat http://www.autohausaz.com/pn/11531437526
and does not fit this http://www.autohausaz.com/pn/11531720173

11511742647 is a much newer pump that was made from 1995 up to 2007. This means AFAIK that this was never used in the E32 740i. This was used by the E38 and E39 at the time.

The E32 740i used the 11510007042 pump or the 11510004163 UP to 1994. This was the thermostat used with these: 11531702279. This pump appears to have 2 radiator connections only.

E32 always had the same water pump, up to 01/1994 11510007042, from 01/1994 these were added:
    only in conjunction with
    -- BRACKET BREATHER PIPE AKF 1 01/1994 13901741760 $5.60
    -- Bracket AKF 1 01/1994 13711747970 $2.09 ENDED
    -- Hex bolt with washer M6X12-Z1 1 01/1994 07119915017 $0.36 ENDED

    t-stat was always 07 Thermostat 95CEL 11531702279

    E32 was never OBDII style.

shogun - thanks, responded in the other thread. It seems autohauosaz and realoem are showing wrong info, as the combination of 043 pump does not work with the 173 cover .

I am looking for a pump with the 3rd hose outlet, and matching thermostat housing/thermostat. I don't care if it came out of 5/7/8 series M60 cars, but it needs to have the old style m60 type of radiator hoses, not the new m62tu style that snap in.,

It seems that the 11511742647 was used in M60 E31 AND was also used in M62 e38/e39 cars , spanned 94-98 cars...so that means it was used in OBD1 cars and OBD2 cars...but this pump has a flat thermostat side w/o the recess for the o-ring, so that 173 cover and matching thermostat will not work on this pump as I have the cover/tstat and flat side 043 pump.

Now, the 11510007042 pump won't work for me as it does not have the 3rd outlet for a water hose.

The 11510004163 looks different, it does have the 3rd hose connector

From the photos - it looks like PN 11511742517 is what I am after. 3rd water hose, AND recess for 173 cover/thermostat !

I have my doubts the autohaus PLUS realoem are wrong, but check with this one http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog
you can play all combinations, paste the part numbers into search by part number and all will be shown

    example 11510007042 http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/11510007042
and then it shown you which model, so for example we go to E32 740 and it shows you which housing fits http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E3...stat#0007042_1
    Cover 11531720173
then you can play with that number the same game: used on E34, E32, E39, E31 http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/11531720173 with pump no........

so select the pump you want and search by it's part number and the t-stat cover will be shown you need for it.

Pic of your engine here for the others https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...ump-thermostat

Shogun - Well, I've clearly gone through ordering these and have the parts in my hands and can see what pump works and doesn't work with the 173 style cover and 526 style thermostat

well, I can only go by the ETK, do not have such parts on hand. In case you find out, tell us what fits where with part numbers.
