hey guys, I was wondering if a M50 non vanos intake camshaft will fit in a m50tu? yes, I dont want the vanos anymore since is a track car, and the vanos is one more thing to goes bad. if it will fit, i Will need to buy the cam itself, sprockets and the impulse sending, new valve cover ( no vanos ) and the front cylinder head cover?
Yes it will all fit. You would be the best off to just get a complete M50 nv head, then you get the better valve train along with it. Since you are not using the stock ecu you should not need to do anything different with the electronics. At a minimum you just need the intake cam, intake cam impulse wheel, intake cam sprocket, valve cover, and front cover. I'm not sure if the cam position sensor is different. They are different part numbers but that doesn't mean they won't work. You will also need to redo the trigger angle for the cam position sensor in your ecu since the impulse wheel is different.
If you just want to remove vanos with the cams you allready have all you need to do is take the vanos unit off and replace the studs labeled #6 in this diagram with bolts. This will lock the intake cam so it cannot rotate. That is how my motor is currently set up with S52 cams and non vanos valve cover.
