E36 CD changer - connected to aftermarket head unit?

I have a stock CD changer in my 1997 E36 M3 with HK system. I am redoing the whole system, and I'm wondering if any modern aftermarket head unit can control and use the CD changer.

I am sure that replacing it with something newer would be easier, but I'm just wondering what my options are. If I kept the CD changer, I'd probably just go with a non-CD head unit, since I don't play CD's very often.

No. The interface between thegead unit and the CD changer hasn’t been used in years.
