    E36 m3 compatible with e90 m3 parts?

So I've been looking into used parts but there isn't Much in terms of e36 m3 in my area but there is a lot of e90 m3 parts. So I was wondering if parts like suspension parts can be used on an e36 m3 from a e90 m3

I think the strut spring "hats" offer a 1" drop and fit the tops of 1995M3 and 318/325/323/328 springs

1995M3 and 1996+M3 have different front spring upper diameter/spring rate. These two variants do not share same front spring (upper coil diameter) or spring "hat".

Has this been confirmed by anybody? Looking to further lower the front end of my '96 328, but don't want coil overs.

    Thanks.

I can't speak to the 328, but they require modifications to the strut hat to work on '95 M3 springs.

Vorshlag should know. Their camber plates are the same for E36 and E9X, though there are some options you have to sort out when you buy them due to the pre '95 and 96+ differences. But they could say with a pretty good degree of certainty the differences between E9X and whichever E36 the OP has (328?).

Back to the OP, no there isn't really much commonality in terms of OEM or aftermarket parts. It's a different car built on a different platform. You'll find common things here and there like motor mounts or certain aftermarket things like camber plates maybe (and probably bunches of little fasteners), but the dimensions of the car are much different and the parts that compose it were designed just for the E9x. Same can be said for any generation really. Some were a bit closer to than others, especially the older generations, but nowadays car platforms are basically reengineered from the ground up each time a new one comes along. The E9x is also significantly larger/heavier with more power, so the suspension and driveline all has to be reengineered for those requirements.

TLDR - Go to realoem.com and commit it to memory. It's super easy to see what parts go where and on which models/generations there.

Note that the E36, for the “Catalog” pull-down, is in the “Classic” selection.

It's not even a dimensional issue. The fundamental design of the suspension is almost entirely different.
