Hey Guys, so I was getting a bit curious so maybe some of you can clear this up for me, there seems to be 2 type of dipsticks on the M54 B30 motors, on some the dipstick is forward towards the bumper, next to the throttle body, and on others its all the way pack towards the firewall(like M50/M52 dipsticks). So whats the deal with that, and when and why did BMW Switch to that? and is there any simple ways to relocate it to the back or maybe just swap the whole dipstick assembly with a rear facing one??
Thanks!

Interest on a Very Budget Supercharger Build??
I saw a similar post on another forum about this and the conclusion was that the owner had bought an E46 that had an engine swap from a Z3. The M54Bxx series has the the dipstick up front whereas the Z3 had it in the rear, or so everyone concluded.
I see, is there any way to put the dipstick towards the rear other than buying the Z cars dipstick?
Also I am guessing the dipsticks from the Z cars M54 and usual 3 series are interchangeable?
I am trying to work out the GT500 M122H Superchargers placement for future M54 Motors really, or we may have to go custom on the dipstock job, so any info and ideas appreciated.
The Z3 and E46 dipsticks are interchangeable.

There is only one thing more pleasurable than working on a Z3, that's driving it top down on a fine day.
