    Manual 404 non EWS chip or DME

    Hello,

    Does anyone have a source for the manual 6speed Factory chip/eprom code for the 540i PRE EWS2, so let's say 1994?

    Either a complete DME, a chip, or software that I can burn to the chip itself?

    I am working on m60 swap in my e30, and I have an auto 404 DME and that will not work for me as I am going through CA BAR certification process and they scan the ECU so running 404 from auto will throw a trans code and will fail me. I need a manual 404 DME in order to pass and haven't been able to find one.

    If you have a spare laying around that you are willing to either sell, or loan for $ please let me know. I am not interested in a performance chip at this time, as I want it to 100% pass the scanner AND emissions test here in good old California so that's why I am looking for a virgin 404 manual .

    DUDMD told me he does not have a Stock 540i manual chip, and only has performance chips :/ I am not looking for a performance chip at this time though.

    My main goal is to have a DME that is for a manual swap and won't throw any codes.

    I spoke with Dinan today and they have over 20 variations of their chip for the M60 cars, and they require not only knowing what DME you use (404 for example) but also what PCU and BCU codes are in the DME. They told me that it's a very popular swap to go from automatic to manual on 540/740/840 cars of that generation, and someone with access and knowledge of GT1 or Autologic can PULL/READ the PCU/BCU from the DME AND also update those to MANUAL.

    So, I am wondering if that is something DUDMD or someone else with access to GT1 or Autologic here can do?

    It sounds like this is a known procedure / process for auto-to-manual swaps to go through, so it's no secret ?

    I only have performance chips for manual M60B40 404 dme too, all of my stock chip reads are from autos. I'd like to see a stock manual M60B40 404 tune too. I'm trying to borrow a local E34 540i M-sport 6spd dme to read the chip, it'll be a 484 but once it's read I can compare it to an auto 484 and see exactly what the difference is between tunes.

    Hi, that would be awesome if you can find it! Perhaps we can get DUDMD in here and get him to read your factory chip and make a copy for us?

    Would you be OK with that, please let me know...let's talk ! DUDMD might be interested in having a stock manual chip as well, as last time I spoke with him he didn't have one .

    There's a good chance it's a 484, but I could apply the manual specific code to a 404 tuning and send you both.

    Yeah hoping it's a 404 vs 484. If it's a 484, I can purchase a 484 DME for it...but will need to dial with EWS2 delete ? From reading about it, it can be as simple as cutting a pin on the harness?

    In the end I don't care really if I am using 404 or 484, as long as either one is running a stock manual chip/software and EWS is not going to be an issue...and no auto trans codes.

    I have a 404 auto chip early 94 non ews and I have a manual chip for a 404 that I purchased off an eBay seller that sent me 2 accidentally, one is in my manual swap 740 and works like a charm

    I know of a local 540/6 in a junk yard I could probably grab the dme out of this but I believe it was an ews e34

    Yeah, I'd just ask DUDMD if he can fix the coding for the transmission on your existing DME. He has a great reputation for I reason and can probably point you in the right direction even if he can't do the coding

    I've already chatted with him, and he's seen this before but issue hasn't been fixed for a coupe other owners going through this swap. DUDMD doesn't have a stock 404 manual chip either...that would have been the most elegant solution. I haven't seen anybody yet actually use a MANUAL harness and MANUAL 404 DME...and that's what I am trying to do here. To keep it as clean and simple as possible

    Any updates guys on the Manual STOCK chip ?
