Car has 32,000 miles - pampered and serviced at dealer and has the original BMW battery. Question: should I be seeing a green light or other in the battery window at all times? I momentarily received a "battery dischg" message after starting, but it extinguished quickly and have never seen it again. The light in the battery is definitely not on right now, but the car starts fine without any indication of a weak battery or any messages. The battery is now hooked up to a delron charger and indicates a maintenance charge (green light on the delron unit) after initially charging up for about 12 hrs.
Hello and welcome to the forum! The green light indicates that the battery is sufficiently charged. I wouldn't worry too much about the message that you received for a moment - maybe a brief hickup

Using a multi/volt meter measure voltage at battery terminals,
Engine off(12.4~12.7)volts.
Engine on(13.5~14.5)volts.
If you display these readings, your battery should be fine.
