Unhappy 2004 E46 M3 Idle Judder and loss of power

Hi, I have a 2004 Laguna seca blue E46 M3 Cabrio SMG, ive recently started experiencing some issues with the car, i get intermediet idle judder and 1500 rpm and also at 2500 rpm, and the car feels sluggish i ran the scanner and only got code P0441- Evaporative Emission Control System- Incorrect flow detected. I havent done anything to the car aside from a Megan Racing Muffler which gave me no issue within the 4+ months ive had it on the car. I recently changed spark plugs this week and still no improvement. The issue is still there. I ran my snap on scanner on it and looked thru everything, everything seems perfectly fine, no issues with coilpacks or injectors or MAF. My car had 130k miles on it and Im really trying to get down to the bottom of it. I would appreciate any help thank you.

    Welcome to the Forum!

Also do you have any records on the VANOS being replaced/refreshed? Do you hear a rattle at the RPM's as well? Sound like an empty paint can by chance?

When was the last time the valves were adjusted?

You should be able to watch live data with the scanner, what is going on at that time?

Hi, and yea the vanos makes a little noise first at start up, and no i do not believe it was ever changed but it does not make noise when im driving. And i dont know that last time the valves were adjusted, havent done that since i got the car. And when i checked the live data on the scanner nothing looked out of place. But the vanos does not make noise when im driving, no rattle or anything only a little noise on morning start up of the car. its also gotten worse, the car is so sluggish now and doesnt feel powerful at all.

Normally the valve are adjusted every Inspection, or about 30k miles. If the VANOS is acting up, you will get several codes for timing being out of adjustment, or solenoid failure, ect. and it can cause the car not to run properly. Also vacuum leaks can make the car idle badly too.

Just so I understand correctly, your SES light is not on during all this?
