I'm rebuilding an M52TU28B to be turbocharged and put on Volvo 240. I'm going to run it on VEMS Standalone ecu, but the VVT management is not ideal and setting it up with infinitely variable vanos seems to be complicated.
The double vanos casing of the engine was a bit damaged and I have thoughts about converting it to single vanos system, that is way easier to manage with the ecu. The downside is the fact that it needs some welding and machining as the M52TU and M52 heads are different.
I'm considering to replace the double vanos unit, but would like to keep it simple and have on-off vanos control. Will it work when I just switch it on and off? Is there a DIY way to lock the cams? What would be the optimal position to lock it?
