Can anybody help with diagrams or just knowing what poles on taco i have to use, my taco is dead. Have a used one and befor i put it in the instrument, i want to check it, but i donīt know which is + and - and signal from ECU on the taco instrument.
Help! Cheers Mike
The tach isn't quite so simple on the e30. Input to the tach is an output from the SI board. Dead tachs are usually SI board problems.

I wish my car had a tacometer, I could always use a good taco. Hope you get yours working, would hate for you to go hungry.
The problem is i need it for my 2002tii, so if anybody knows which pin on the taco is +,- or signal. Regards Mike
It's a tachometer, please stop saying taco, it's too much for me!
Second, there isn't a + or - pin, the tachometer is controlled by a microprocessor in the SI board, which gets its signaling from the engine DME. It's all digital, the closest you could get to a +/- would be I guess to look at the stepper motor pins directly on the tach, but good luck with that.
you are in the wrong section. and yes your tach will have at least one wire direct from the distributor, maybe two, and maybe one from distributor and one from coil, all depending which ignition system is installed. it was common to switch ignition systems out on earlier cars. if you have an engine swap then good luck, it all depends on what set up was installed.
