considering adding a tune for a bit more power. I see dinan offers both a full flash ($1500) and a plug-n-play unit with a bit less boost and no warranty ($299). Just wondering if those are really my only two options, or if there are other competitors out there that make a comparable or superior product. Thank you!

Is it possible you have it backwards? The added in Cpu is warranted, mounted in the engine bay, and is 1500 to 2k. The flash is not and they basically reprogram one of the cars computers.
I have a 13 with the Dinan cpu tuner. It makes the msport package actually more than window dressing. 400 lbs of torque is nice to have. Maintaing factory warranty was a big consideration for me, asaik, it was the only tuning which didn't void the warranty.

my car is out of factory warranty, so there is no value in the warranty to me. it is a x3 28. (2.0T)

Hi, this is the cpu. I can assure you it's at least 1500. The reason the warranty issue might be of interest to you is that Dinan used to be the exclusive in house tuner for BMW,which is why they were the only company to get tuned and keep your warranty. I think this speaks greatly to the integration of Dinan into the brain of your car, but to each his own. Good luck with whatever way you choose.

I'm a big fan of the Turner N20 tunes, +50HP/+70FT/LBS on an otherwise stock engine!
