    Nearly money shifted today..

Coming down the freeway at about 140km/h (~85 mph) and went to drop it into fourth from sixth to take a big sweeping off ramp and dropped it into second...
Second is good for 110km/h (~70mph) to up shift but that could have been disastrous at that speed down...
Fortunately I felt it before I even saw or heard it and with judicious braking and a bit of feathering of the clutch I kept the RPM down into sane territory and the compression braking to a couple of chirps and twitches from the rear end.
    Damn that was close.

Ha. The 535 has a ZF box, right? The Getrag is too notchy and clunky to go into 2nd by mistake I think... sorta a 'silver lining' effect.

Sixth gear, must be a Getrag.

Down under only got slushies because 2,000 extra on a 100k car is nothing, why even bother offering a manual?

I was under the impression the 535i had the ZF 5 speed gearbox and Terraphantm once confirmed it, but OP mentions 6th gear so it probably has the Getrag box.

I believe he took out the slush box and installed a manual....so it could be getrag. Most luxury cars here got the auto trans. Must have been an excess of them in Europe so they sent them around to the other side of the world...out of harms way!

To be fair, Australians do love their V8 burnouts. And burnouts are a lot easier with a slushbox.

I did the manual conversion a couple of years ago.
It is a 6 speed getrag.

That's what I meant by felt it... I blip the throttle as I downshift, and when it went into th gate it did feel notchier and wrong, but during that cognitive process in my mind I'd already committed to the gear and the corner...
