They may have different fittings, so take a close look. I know the 2.0l do not have the same fittings on both lines, I'm not sure about the 1.8l.
Look at realoem, it shows the 'return line' is still available for the 1.8l.

i have a 1982 320i 1.8 model. I will take a look at the realoem, i tried my local BMW dealer, pelican parts, Bav auto and all said NLA. where can i source the part.
They are different sizes.
There is conversation out there about refitting the ends of these lines- might be your best attack...
Here is the conversation-

Good luck!

The part number is13311267553
Run a google search for the number- might have to go overseas...
17 and 18 are different size screw plugs-same size barbed banjo eyes, those are WUR lines.
The hard hose heat it with a heat gun to softened it then press the barbed banjo fitting or the screw plug with a brake or gas line flare tool,,the tube fits in one of the sandwiched holes and clamped in and another tool screw presses the barbed or screw fitting into the hard plastic tube ,with or without heat gun this will work and as long as the line is long enough when repaired to fit. This is routine at a bmw shop.
Hard Lines are here and elsewhere, measure the id of your line and buy a new length with same inside diameter( id )---these lines are same or better hard lines-this plastic softens when heated and then resets hard when cooled down. Heat in short bursts or not, DIY or take to BMW shop and watch them fit it in a few minutes- bring the invoice and show its polyamide line and tell him how long you want it to be---measure your old line end to end or bring it in too .
https://www.belmetric.com/black-poly...c-14_184_1153/
Belmetric information:
ID 3.0mm, OD 5.0mm---Measure your ID and look up
Working Temperature -76F to 212F with short term temperature spikes up to 266F degrees
Working Pressure at ambient temperature (68F) is 638 psi / 44 bar
Polyamid hose demonstrates mechanical resistance against abrasion, impact shock and oscillation. It has a small bending radius, is easy to install, lightweight and does not require an anti corrosive.
Applications: Fuel lines, injection lines, lubrication lines, oil lines, air lines, low pressure lines, coolant lines, vacuum lines, hydraulic lines, high temperature lines and air brake lines.
Good for many types of fluid such as:
Gasoline (Petroleum)
Diesel Fuel
Hydraulic Oil
Engine Oil
Brake Fluid
Methane
Methanol
Mineral Oil
If you need your car right away use fuel injection hose( 100 psi rated or better) and clamp each end with the fittings in and wait for the polyamide line to come in and then install fittings in it.
I bought some front brake lines from them(fast shipping)--made in Germany--Like the polyamide lines.

I also believe that 17 and 18 are different lengths on the 1.8? My be wrong but once they have been installed for years they seem to shape themselves to only fit back where they were.
If the line is broke right at the fitting you can most likely cut the piece off the fitting and put it back into the remaining part and it should still fit.

thank's for all the help, advise that each one of you took the time to point me in the right direction. I have some home work ahead of me but should be back on the road in time for the classics in Van Nuys.{Woodley park) on 11/4/2017
Okay I'll measure, I'll dig out my backup spare WUR lines I keep pre-bent .
Yes they are different lengths and fitment . the WUR small hole one-connects to the side of the fuel distributor is 16 5/8 " end to end with fittings so 16" line is enough, the large hole line(feed line)-connects to the top of the fuel distributor is 18 1/4 " end to end with fittings, the OD of both 4.89 mm so 5 mm OD
Recap:
small hole wur line 16 5/8" with fittings on, without fittings 15 5/8"- so 16"
large hole wur line 18 1/4 with fittings on, without fittings 17 1/4"- so 17.5"
OD is 5 mm
so 3 mm id and 5 mm od my post above is it
RHPoly3
3mm COHLINE german Polyamide (polymide) fuel line, black. ID 3.0mm, OD 5.0mm Working Temperature -76F to 212F with short term temperature spikes up........
Measure yours in case routed differently to keep the same otherwise the above lengths are solid, yet some extra length is recommended just in case.

I have rebuilt my fuel lines using fuel injection hose and factory clamps. You have to cut the metal sleeve off the fuel line to expose the fitting. Once you get that far the fitting is just an internal barb fitting with a fancy crimp clamp on it over cloth (or braided metal) covered hose. I used some 8mm fuel injection hose and some clamps. Works like a charm. Not as pretty as the factory ones, but it works and is safe.
thank you Randy, this isn't the first time you have gave me some very valuable advise i do appreciated. I will place
an order from Bel Metric for the fuel line and have a BMW shop put the hose back together for me.RHPOLY3 - Polyamide Hard Plastic 3mm
3mm COHLINE german Polyamide (polymide) fuel line, black. ID 3.0mm, OD 5.0mm Working Temperature -76F to 212F with short term temperature spikes up... at least 2 meters to be on the safe side.

thank you Mike for the advice. will keep it in mind.
Need extra for practice runs...

This happened to me some time ago, I took the old line to BMW shop and the fitting and it was installed, cost $25, enough room broke right on the end.

For the hard plastic lines, D&S sales also carries CIS fittings and lines:

Way, way back in the previous millennium when I first got my E21 running, one of the fuel injector lines was cracked. This was before I knew you could buy parts at a BMW dealership and the internet was pretty short on useful information or anything for sale. So I got some high pressure line like Randy suggests from a euro car repair shop in the nearest big city and made the injector line. I later used the same stuff for the WUR lines mentioned. I was always surprised once I found other E21 people online, no one ever seemed to know about this stuff and only used factory lines, or the braided VW/Audi ones. One thing though, I'm virtually certain it was 4mm ID and not 3mm. I remember things from back then better than things from this morning.
anyone know the ID and OD for my '77 Fuel Dizzy to WUR line? The line that comes from the top of the dizzy to the 14mm (or top) WUR line. Thanks.

Same as far I can see, share the same WUR number from 03/76-12/82-interchangable & have separate numbered WUR's, both polyamide hoses are same id/od, they differ in only threaded hollow plug size at/in the WUR. Top FD -banjo polyamide to larger threaded WUR hole with screen, side lower FD-Banjo polyamide to smaller threaded WUR hole without screen.

So, it is 3mm I.D. and 5mm O.D. correct?
Yes, both are same size, they differ only with the threaded hollow screw in plug in the WUR itself. I measured both from two spare sets I have.. I got the extras as they are hard to find,,I dont mind running thru High Cotton, I just dont want to get jabbed by there thorns, hurts like H.

Are there ANY alternatives to using these polyamide lines? Not that I don't like them, just curious.
dupes,
Going back when jrcook was still active, he was running regular high pressure fuel injector line over the plastic line at the fittings, clamped with 2 screw clamps at each end. Went into his FAQ links, but of course Photo Bucket killed all the old photos. If interested, try dropping him a PM.
