Need some questions answered/help with my E36

I have a couple of questions about my car. I just bought it not to long ago. I really don’t know much about it yet as I’m new to BMW’s. I have a 1999 E36 Coupe. I know that’s it’s a 323 but I don’t know if it is a (i) or (is). I’m looking to buy coilovers for the car so that I will have less roll while drifting. I want to buy the Solo Werks S1 Coilovers because I can get a good deal on new ones. I guess what I’m having trouble with is when I go to look for parts I keep saying it’s a E46 but I know that’s not true. They made both E36 and E46 323 in 1999. I’ve called and talked to BMW Motorworks 3 times and I didn’t get the same answers. Need to save money for everything else that it’s going to take to do th LS swap with a CD009 Transmission. Hopefully someone can help me out instead of sitting on here all day looking for all this information. Thanks you for your time.

Question I’m Looking To Be Answered
    1. Do I have a 323 (I) or (is)
    2. Will the Solo Werks S1 coilovers work even if it say 1992-1998
    3. Any information you can give me or links for the LS with a CD009

It's likely the "i" designation bumps you up to E46, because they only made the sedan in 99. Tell em it's an 'is", so they know you have the coupe E36.

If you have a 2-door, then you have the is, if a 4-door then you have the i.

1999 was one of those "carry over" years where some cars were the E36 and others are the E46. When you open the hood and the kidneys go up too, then you have the E46, if the kidneys remain in place then you have the E36.

If you have a 99 323 coupe it has to be an "is". To avoid this confusion in the future just look for parts that fit a 98 e36. 99 was a crossover year and most guys behind the parts counters aren't familiar with all the different flavors of BMW.

    1) As stated numerous times, IS
    2) Yes, they should work because your car is still an E36
    3) I have no experience here, sorry
