But don't forget we met the German army in Africa first and kicked their butt all the way back to Germany. I doubt many vets considered them "weakened" at that point. Germanys downfall was from hubris and poor leadership at the top

Some of the more interesting threads happen after the OP's issues have been put to rest. I say carry on as long as it's not detrimental to the original content.

And if I have anything further to discuss I'll just post away.

I can't hijack a thread if I created it, right?

It's all gravy with me as long as people get along...

    History is interesting, though repetitive...

My grandgrandfather was on Russians side at that time, he got a couple bullet wounds from that war. I think he was quite happy to return alive.

Be careful Dennis, if he has proof that your grandpa shot his grandpa, I have to ban you per forum rules...

    Absolutely!
Everyone who got out alive were lucky. My grandfather was 17 when he was sent to obligatory army training and then few weeks later war started and he had to stay in army go immediately to war. People were in very bad shape, thousands of dead lying in everywhere either freezed, half eaten by animals or rotting down and smelling.

But my grandfather never talked a word about those thing to me, only after he died my father has told some stories.

Bimmerbreaker, it was his grand grand father, we have been slower to breed...

Hey, it's the opposite, it was my grand granpa who was shot and had the wounds! That would be actually some coincidence, knowing that Remotion was driving me around in his coupe some time ago

    Question time.

I realise this is not actually related to cooling, but I figured it's not worth creating a new thread. Anyway, could someone here make a guess how quickly a 2.8 duel VANOS will burn through petrol when running between 3-4k RPM, standing still?

I got 7.7 km/l on my last tank (from just before the thermostat broke until today, 290 km), and just guessing a number of litres lost during the fault finding/testing I reckon it actually gave me well over 8 km/l.

EDIT: By the way, the hose is now replaced, the shroud is back on, and the system filled with coolant.
