Glovebox Flashlight Question

Has anyone replaced the rechargeable battery/batteries in the small hand held flashlight (72808360066) Also if the batteries have totally failed will it cause a drain on the car's battery? Thanks

That DIY shows where to pry open the E32 version, but not the E38 version which has a different design at that spot - any guidance Timm?
That is all that has been stopping me from this upgrade.

That was two years ago! But, from this picture:



Poke a flat-bladed screwdriver between the pins at the rear of the torch and give it a twist, it comes apart quite easily....

I got it apart by hitting it with the handle of a hard plastic Craftsman screwdriver around the joint, starting at the connector end and working your way forward after the connector end is split, this works because the sharp shock of the impact applies force to the relatively week ultrasonic weld in a very small area.
