I normally stick to E36 / E46 forum, but a guy contacted me about a modified E46 M3 muffler I was selling on craigslist and he asked if I would do the same to his 335 for alittle more tone.
Heres the result. Took a day - ill have him send me a vid and post when he does.
Basically I cut open the chambers, removed the packing then on the side with the valve, I removed the small resonator, added a half perforated tube and closed it up. On the far opposite side I closed the perforated side 95% (forgot to photo) and then closed it up. On the two middle chambers with perforated tubes, I removed the shell and sealed the tubing so its a solid cross flow. I then welded the seam and ceramic coated the work!

last ones - has a nice deep tone, lost some weight and gained some flow. I put a solid tube on the right side as well with 1 row of perforations.

I like this, I've been looking at the factory exhaust on my 1 week new to me 335i. I don't want super loud/drony or $1800. worth of aftermarket pieces. Driving impressions? Any drone at certain RPM's, an noticeable power increase? Nice fab work
The guy didn't want an obnoxiously loud exhaust so I kept the full size cross over, just straight piped it. Idle and low rpm are a deep / bass sound. The higher RPMs it gets a sound like the infinity G series. That hollow growl, it sounds good. He loves it.
Seems like a lot of work. My co-worker bought a super nice, full exhaust on E-bay for $500. I expected cheap Chinese crap, but it actually looked really high quality.

Sure was, about 8 hours for me. He only paid $450 though and I don't think this is as loud as an ebay set up. I could have left the inner part of the mufflers on and just sealed to tube, but I wanted a cleaner look and to drop some of the weight. Every bit helps. That was his main thing, he wanted daily usability without obnoxious sound all the time.
Also the mufflers were FULL of water when I opened them for some reason, just an FYI. something to check on yours.
