    Pierburg/TI Automotive/Walbro pump question

Just got a fuel pump from FCP for the 540 in a sealed Pierburg box with German label. The pump is stamped "TI Automotive". From what I found online that is the new name for Walbro. I can find no connection between these companies and wonder how an American made pump got into a German box from another company. Can anyone shed some light on this? I thought about asking FCP, but figured I'm probably the only one that does not know and would just look like a fool, so I will do that here instead

AFAIK TI Automotive bought Pierburg. Just read on an other forum when someone had the same "issue".

Thanks, at least now I know it was not some kind of 'mistake'. Strange to get a US made pump from Germany. I wonder if just getting the pumps from a US supplier would save some bux... It was not expensive really, and since we are all used to paying a little more for parts because we get better parts made in Germany I worry it is not as good. Time will tell I guess.

I have always thought "Walbro" was a reputable brand.
    Maybe not? Don't know...
    Have you looked at AutoZone?
They have the Delphi pump with lifetime warranty for ~$150.

Got it at FCP so no warranty problems there, just checking to be sure this was a known thing. Funny there is no mention of any deal between the companies or any affiliation on either the Pierburg homepage or the TI site. All good, I'm just really careful about what goes in/on my cars (as I'm sure many of us are) and wanted to verify this.
