So
M54B30 crank
M54B30 cams
M54B30 Pistons
M50B25 Non Vanos Rods
Is that setup a time bomb on 500whp or even more? i would try to avoid rod bending tourque, of course.
spool at 3500 sounds like a nice daily powerband. reving to 7000 should be no problem for the rotating assembly i guess? would have pushed the b25 to that number all day long.

Can anyone chime in regarding the b30 setup?
anyways, i put in the new DW Pump and its pretty silent right now when the engine is cranking. i could not get it to start, it backfired like hell and i could not find the issue. played with cranking angle and tps opening as well as dwell time and injector PW during cranking, but its now 0°C and even on e10 i could not get it running...
i tripple checked everything and now i found out the crank VR sensor has a switched polarity, i still wonder how it even ran in the first place during summer. anyways i found out that the connector on the ecu has a few broken notches, so the pins can maybe slide out.. so i now ordered a new set of connectors and will switch the loom over to the new connectors.

btw: thanks to boris and nisse for supporting me with the troubleshoot <3

still trying to get it started, wont catch when i crank... i am lost for ideas...
setup ran in september at ambient temp of 60F. Now its below 30F and i cant get it to start. just pops an bangs. what i checked so far:
-ignition timing and angle via timing light
-coil wiring and firing order
-spark strength of coils
-primary trigger (cam sensor)
-fuel is new and good (E10 fuel)
-Fuel Pump & Filter & Lines all new
-Fuel enters combustion chamber, plugs get wet
-cranking fuel. upped and lowered it no changes whatsoever
-cranking angle between 9-13 defgrees, no changes
-second starter battery. cranking at 160-180rpm
-opened the throttle from 3% (it started like that in summer) up to 18%, no changes. - i have no ICV
setup:
m50b25TÜ - all stock with arps
90mm throttle
siemens deka 875cc
stock FPR
DW 350 inline Pump
i went from prime pulse between 1-3ms back and forth and from cranking fuel from 4ms down to 2ms and it doesnt do anything good. not even a recognizable change at all..
i am in for any idea right now. it still looks like the plugs are wet and not firing, but i would like if someone would share his cranking fuel settings with me on a similar setup, injectorwise...

Kill me pls. In the end it was just the plugs. God knows why they ran just fine 2 months ago and fouled from standing.. more or less new plugs with 500km on them. Also sparked well when pulled. I really just put a set of used crap ones of a m52 donor engine in, out of sheer frustration and it fired right up. well. at least i have tripple checked
trigger timing now :|

Rather than getting it machined, design it so it can be made from pieces of flat plate stacked up so you can just get it laser cut. It will be a lot cheaper.
Thanks for your response. I am well aware it would be a lot cheaper, but the problem is the german safety inspection. Even tho those stacked sheet metal parts would easily handle all forces, you would still not find anyone to approve it. german inspections are the worst there are. so i have to make it a 88mm flak proof brick of steel. i calculated it today and the thinnest part will be 7,5mm thick on a s355mc steel plus 10.9 m12 bolts.. that should be way more then ever needed, but i am still worried if they will approve it... :|
but i got a good deal on laser cutting and a buddy will machine it on the mill so it will maybe turn out like 30€ a piece for the first mock up.

Butchered a m54b30 -> time for a second engine. 3 liter m50 turbo powa should be plenty for the e21.

Crank, pistons and rods look okay, cams are fooked, the bearing surfaces are totally scratched :/ wanted to use the intake one for my m50 but i guess its not worth it to fix that thing. its just 240 degrees (still better than my 228 of course) but now that its fooked I think its just not worth it to get it repaired. staying with the stock one maybe until i find hotter ones. US S50 ones (252° i believe? u guys know better) can be had for ~400€ new, schricks and other brand for ~600 a piece.

First test fit of the new adapters before milling them. looks promising. To be honest, i have never driven a damn e21 ever in my life so i dont know it oem setup sucked that hard :P but now its 316mm disc with 4 pots on the front and 280mm disc with 40mm piston on the rear and that should make the little car stop.

Lasered a set of reinforcement plates for the roll cage. Made them fit just today. I am not so happy with a few of the mounting positions of the cages feet. Especially on the very front a pillar cage foot i can just drill into weak sheet metal i had to weld in to get rid of rust & holes, but it has just very weak structural strength compared to the oem floor panels with all its bends and its profile. Maybe i will tack another sheet metal support bracket on there, connecting the mounting point with the sill to stiffen it all up.

And i have to get rid of the sunroof tunnel. The cage was obviously designed for a car without one and i had major issues to even get it in there. I am a bit mad i already painted the car on the inside and now its all f*ed, but well, i think a cage is worth the hassle. :P

Mein E21 besitzt eine Sauerkrauteinspritzung mit Hochgeschwindigkeitsbratwurstturbine.
I ran into another problem yesterday. I use a tachometer thats usually coil driven (analog) and of course it wont work with the 0-12v square signal of the ecu. Is there a guide to resolder it properly or some other option besides buying a VDO 300 bucks tacho?
I contemplated splicing it into the COP trigger wires, but i am somehow afraid to fry my ecu ignition driver?!

Slow progress.
Ordered a 3 port MAC valve for boost control an fiberglass hood from Czech.. hope i will ever receive it...
Working on the Interior and head and taillights to get it somewhat roadworthy.

i really want to go out and road tune it for low boosts (8-10 psi) , but need some kind of dealer plates... hard to get and still not 100% legal :|

fiberglass hood vom pesch motorsport czech arrived. pretty good, sadly it good a very ugly kink right on the nose. :|
Can it cope with the heat of the charger? I got a turbo diaper on the hotside, but the compressor housing touchess the hood.. maybe i will put some heat shielding material on the inside of the hood?

The good thing is that it is fibreglass so adding a bulge where the compressor is will be easy. Fixing the kink shouldn’t be bad either.
you are pretty brave for doing this massive work with the polizei waiting for you in german roads
Sounds awesome. Too loud for my liking inside it. Screamer pipe as well. :*
Pretty fast aswell. On low boost somewhere in the low 300 whp range i guess, even thats pretty okay in a stripped e21
