Thanks for sharing those "nuggets" of information about tracking a car's true identity!
I appreciate you taking the time to provide a very lively narrative.
I'm aboard...
Love it! How long did the bodywork take? Any rust repair?
And slightly unrelated, but tell Stu I ended up with his sport steering wheel! I wasn't fast enough for the orange recaros though.

If you're a dork like me, the history, the provenance, the reasoning behind what Alpina did is cool. The dash plaque still puzzles me but, oh well! Never took an archaeology class but probably should have.
Body work still going, but not because it couldn't be completed yet. Rather, Stu is pacing it to not get too far ahead of the dash and motor restorations. Minor rust repairs as noted in blog.
Thanks! I like it a LOT, too! Alpina knows their blues.

Looking good! Don’t skip plastigaging all the bearings and check/adjust crank end float.
Also maybe run a tap through all the bolt holes in case u got any paint in them.

Man, that's a rough blow. Happy to lend a hand on the work sometime if you need one when you're feeling 100%

OMG glad to hear you are OK!!
Did you install the plastic spacer/washers on the oil pump drive? I couldn't tell from the photo where you installed the new oil pump.
