Best Way to Sell Totaled 2003 540i

I recently purchased a 2003 540i and two days later some idiot ran a red and totaled my car. The insurance company is going to give me $12,800 for it if they get to keep the vehicle or $11,400 if i keep it. I thought I could get more than the difference if I salvaged it myself but everywhere I go is offering $250 for the damaged car, or less. Look for some assistance as to where or how to get the most money possible for this thing. If you think I should just the let the insurance take it please let me know as well.

Any information is appreciated, thank you.

Part it out, that's about the only way your going to make any money on the deal.
    What area got hit?
Post a pic if you can.
FYI, you can't directly sell parts here on the forum, otherwise the posts will be deleted.
You could have people PM you for a list of parts you are selling.

Sorry to hear. Part it out, if you have the time - how much do you value your time?
    Otherwise, search for another one.

Honestly that's a really good value, unless you paid way more than that for it originally. Most 540i's are only worth 5-6k according to Blue Book.

Take money, parting out a car is a lot of work and a lot of time.

12,800.... What was the mileage? That's a hell of a good payout.

That's what I was thinking, if it's low miles, parting it out might be a wise way to go, but time, space, and patience comes into play.

It's 85k miles so definitely could part it out. The issue is that I don't really even have the know how to part this thing out other wise i would. Any pointers or lessons?

Take money and run unless you have the time, space, and tools to take a car apart. Shipping large parts can also be a real PITA.

Take the full payout. You might make some money from parting the car out, but it requires a lot of space, a lot of time, and you'll have to deal with a lot of really shady people. When I parted out a few E39's, I had to deal with all sorts of sketchy people who wanted to fix their cars on the down low without getting a salvage title, and some that were straight up criminal with ideas like buying a clean title shell just to swap the VIN over to a salvaged shell.
