I have a 540i with a high cluster but a GMIII (Low). Is this right? Or should it always be a GMIII (High)? Did all 540i's goe High clusters?
From what I've read, all 540i's got a high cluster, but I can't find anything on the corresponding GM3 module for it. I'm assuming high clusters got high GM3's correct?
I've been trying to track down why my OBC won't work on my MID, my key fob stopped unlocking and locking the doors, and the rear tailgate latch cycles but doesn't release the latch.
I finally had some time to dig in and take out the GM3 module to get the part number on it.

Should I have a high GM3 from the factory? I think this module is toast. Is it supposed to make a jingling noise when shaken like something is loose? I took the cover off and nothing was loose. It sounds like it is coming from one of the relays on the board, or maybe it's a capacitor.
All North American 540is came with the High OBC from factory. Not sure about the GMIII module though.

Do I need to purchase a GM3 module that matches my cars part number exactly, or can I purchase a high module with a different p/n on it and just recode it?
I've tried to google search this but haven't found any info. A new GM3 with my P/N on ECS is on backorder for an astonishingly high $616.18. I can't justify spending that much for 1990's computer tech. I guess I'll just find a High GM3 module second hand and hope that it works after I recode it and report back.
