Free wheels are nice, but Style 37 looks better. Just my 2 cents

Great project. Keeping my eye on this thread.
Just out of curiousity, the above picture. Those trunklids look mint rustwise at first glance. Is it so? In Europe its almost impossible to find a rust free 5th door. One could always buy a new one but that costs a fortune.
Playing with the idea of aquiring it from somewhere in US and shipping it here.. - if not too much of an hassle PM me for direct contect.
I can't comment about those exact tailgates and rust since I didn't take a close look. That salvage yard was located in San Diego and due to it's location (Southern California) it is likely you will find vehicles with less rust compared to others more Northern locations. I have moved out of state so I won't be able to assist with sourcing/shipping a tailgate.
A tailgate from a yard or damaged wagon shouldn't be very expensive but shipping to Europe will be.
The yard those wagons were at is called LKQ, they have yards in various locations where you can enter and pull your own parts, they also have an online storefront where you can buy parts from them. I don't know if they offer international shipping but you can contact them and inquire. eBay would be another place to check. Lastly a fellow E39 enthusiast (like me) who is parting out an E39T (which I am not). Good luck on the hunt and may shipping rates be favorable!
Thanks for the ideas. Will contact LKQ.
But on with Your awesome build now.
