Successfully installing M-tech/M5 rear bumper with Dinan exhaust

I am sure this has been discussed here before, I just can't seem to find the posts/thread.

Has anyone been able to run the Dinan twin pipe muffler with M Sport M-tech/M5 bumper!

In assessing it visually side-by-side on a car with the bumper, it appears the exhaust insert panel cutout is more inboard towards center of the car than where the cutout is for my Dinan exhaust tips on the standard e39 bumper.

My car is a 2002 MSport.

Really want to run that bumper and retain the Dinan system. Thoughts, experience or direction to an existing post on this?

    Thanks in advance

You may be able to have the tips on the dinan muffler cut off and re welded to match up with the m bumper cutout. I don't think it will line up without modifying though.

QS39, I had the same issue but was using the Eisenmann Race muffler.
The tips were way off center to the left on the M5 bumper.
Eisenmann does make this muffler for the M5 bumper, the body and tips are recentered, however it's ~$1300.
I sold my Eisenmann and purchased a Vibrant twin tip.

Now with the Vibrant which had a smaller can I could relocate it (made new inlet pipe) to center the tips, however the cutout in the valance wasn't wide enough to fit the dual 3.5" tips.

To open up the valance cutout I did this.

    Back together, centered properly.

You could probably just have the pipe connecting to the muffler inlet cut and re-welded to center the tips, unless the Dinan muffler body hits the spare tire well.
That was the problem I had with the Eisenmann muffler, couldn't move it over as the can would hit the spare tire well, wasn't going to start chopping and welding that.

Jim, how about just doing a clean cut from the inlet pipe, spin the muffler 180 degrees, I think that will be enough to locate the two outlet pipes. The DINAN stamp on each outlet will just be upside down, unless you spin those around too.

But is the inlet pipe located in the center of the muffler? I didn't think of that.

Not sure how the Dinan inlet pipe is.
Here's the Eisenmann that I was using with the 540 bumper before I went to the M5 bumper.

Nice work on the diffuser, Jim. Looks factory compared to mine which the PO just had cut larger. Yours looks factory.

The eisenmann can (in pics atleast) looks to be bigger than the dinan muffler. The dinan may have enough room to move around. Not sure though.

I was thinking of the 180 degree spin around based on Jim's first picture in his first post, thinking that was the DINAN pipe. Lol, Just woke up, haven't had coffee yet, where the hell is my girl friend? I need some food....

Jim thanks for the suggestion and supporting pics. Clearly I am going to have to enlarge the opening. What did you use to re-attach the cut off piece of the insert?

I will get the car up in the air and see how much room there is with the Dinan can. The 180 degree flip does sound like a good route if possible.

    Thanks all for the responses.

I used epoxy on the back side with some fiberglass screening embedded in it. On the front side where the 2 pieces meet I used body filler. I had to add a filler piece at the top which was a piece of plastic cut to size, same epoxy and screening to hold it together. Sanded the front side smooth, primed it and then shot it with 3 coats of satin black.
