Did a top to bottom coolant system overhaul a few weeks back and had a few extra hoses left over that I wasn't familiar with from the coolant hose kit I bought.
Just wanted to make sure these were all used in an E36 M3 manual before I go poking around. I'll probably just make this a rainy day project if so (though if they aren't leaking I'm a little apprehensive to fool with them, but they came in the kit so I can do them if they are usually replaced when doing the whole cooling system). Just mainly want to make sure these are not auto only.
1) Throttle body heater return hose/pipe - 13541703945
2) Thottle body to cylinder head hose - 13541703865
3) Engine inlet to heater control valve - 64211394293
Thanks
5 speed ones will have these as well.
Yes, the first two represent #13 & #14 on this RealOEM diagram. This is the heating circuit for the throttle-body to prevent icing. Older E36s actually had a thermostat assembly in the air-box to control when this was activated.
The last hose is represented by #5 in the diagram I linked above. To get to this hose, you will have to remove the intake manifold. In all honesty, I'd suggest a replacement water flange and a replacement gasket for the flange (#3 & #4 in this diagram, just to cover all basis.
It runs from the back of the cylinder head (near the Cyl. 6 intake) intake into the heater control valve.
I just replaced that heater hose, the flange and flange gasket this past weekend on my 1993 320i. All were original to the car. To say that I'm impressed about a hose lasting 24yrs is an understatement.
