    Touch-up Paint

Paint shop mixed up a pint of urethane basecoat with reducer so its ready to apply right out of can. Its not cheap at $55/pint. It should be a close match since basecoat in trunk does not have a clearcoat on it, unless i am mistaken. I needed some touch-up paint to spray over battery tray after cleaning some light corrosion off of it but any rattlecan paint would have a gloss finish. I also need to repair or replace and refinish the lower valance on front of car so the extra paint may come in handy.

Not cheap is right. But cheap and BMW really don't get along.

And labor rates are so high so I do as much as I can on my projects. I would rather buy the tools and try to teach myself methods, maintenance, and repairs but it does take me considerably longer to complete a project vs paying someone else to do the job.

Agreed. And in most cases, you will take the time necessary to ensure the best job possible. I am not sure you can get that kind of attention at any price.

The raw truth. Sad, isn't it?

I used a rattle can of the correct BMW color to touch up my battery trays.
As it's a non-gloss lacquer finish and therefore not as durable as urethane paint, I also applied a (non-tacky) overcoat of 'Dinol' to both tray areas for extra protection.
Should be good for another 23 years!

Thanks for input! I did see your thread about the use of Dinol that sounds like a very good protectant so I would like to find some Dinol or another type of 'wax' to apply over the paint.
