Hi there. I just bought a 2006 325i BMW off of Craigslist. The car runs and shifts great . The only issue is when I come to a complete stop there's a thump noise that comes from the back of the car from the sounds of it. It's only when I come to a complete stop. The car has 150,000 miles. The noise only happens randomly as well. Iv been told it might be tranny mounts . But I'm woundering if anyone has had this issue know exactly what it is that has been through it all ready . Please and thanks!!!!
This is why you pay somebody to check out the car before you by it. Take it to an independent BMW shop and pay for a post purchase inspection
Hi Jenny, and welcome to the forum.
As jclausen indicates, it's always best to get a pre-purchase inspection, by a BMW specialist pro, to be forewarned about the dozens of things which are likely to be wrong with a twelve year old car. Some of these dangers could possibly and suddenly cost you more than you paid for the car.
The noise in the back might just be a tool in the trunk, or a broken differential bushing, or a brake caliper bracket that's about to fly off. I highly recommend that you have a BMW pro fully inspect the car, and make you a list of its problems.

You needs to find a reputable indie shop. Try www.bimrs.org. Also, google "BMWCCA #####" where "#####." Is your zip code. That'll give you the link to the locale chapter of the BMW Car Club of America. Check the website for recommendations. You're in the Boston area so there's a ton of reputable shops specializing in BMWs.
Thanks for the info I'm getting it checked out this week
