    X5 E70 3.0 Fuel Pump has no voltage

    Hello, my X5 fuel pump is not working, i already replaced the fuel pump relay and still dont have voltage at the fuel pump connector.. anything i am missing?

    Are you sure that your car has a fuel pump relay, and not a fuel pump control module? (In '08, both options exist) If a relay, is fuse 97 hot? If EKPM, is fuse 105 hot?

    I'd wonder whether you've checked for spark, to see whether the DME and CAS are even trying to start the car. Has the car been hooked to a BMW specific diagnostic computer, to see whether the CAS and DME and EGS are happy?

    What color wire are you testing, and which side of the car are you testing?

    Hello,

    Yes, it has a pump relay in the cargo area, where aft fuse box is right side, i applied direct voltage to the pump to make sure its not a bad pump and as soon as i touched the + the pump started running, so i know its not a bad pump.. i dont think my X5 has the pump module, i have searched for the location in other forums and my model apparently does not have it, i have not checked fuse 97, will do that when i have a chance, what is that fuse connected to that could do that to the fuel pump? I sprayed a little of starting fluid to see if the car would turn on and it did. I have not hooked the car to a BMW computer, but i do have one of those cheap OBDii codes tester which i got some codes of it

    According to ProDemand wiring diagrams, an '08 X5 3.0 can have either system, the relay or the EKPS.

    If the car has a relay instead of fuel pump module, then it is fuse 97 which gives power to the terminal 30 of that relay, and therefore to the pump itself. Fuse 97 should be hot at all times.

    The DME controls the ground of the activation for the relay; the hot for the activation comes from the CAS.

    If fuse 97 is hot, but the fuel pump doesn't get powered, then the DME & CAS aren't trying to start the car, and you need a BMW diagnostic computer.

    What color is the hot wire you're testing at the pump? White/Blue or Red/White?

    Okay, white/blue proves that you have a relay, not a module. Test fuse 97.

    My resource for the diagrams is a professional site, accessed only by password by pro shops that pay a bunch of money.

    You can try BMW-planet.com , go to their library and try to access WDS, the factory diagrams. Personally, I've been unable to make that site work for me.

    Fuse 97 was empty when i checked.. my X5 is e70 3.0si, i think fuse 97 is used with the diesel engine.... is that correct?

    You were right brother, i swapped a 20 fuse to slot 97 and it worked... THANKS ALOT

    I was t/s my ac system because my compressor went bad, looks like my friend was testing some fuses and Apparently he misplaced fuse 97 with the next slot.... nice headache for a misplaced fuse

    Recall or not, the vehicle in question had a missing fuse. Let's not confuse a solved issue. We try to start with 50 cent fuses (electrical supply), and work our way up to thousand dollar HPFPumps, unless we have some code that implicates the HPFP.

    Hello!

    I recently did some work on my 2008 X5 4.8i myself, I have replaced the valve covers gaskets and a bunch of o-rings. I did not unplug the ground terminal of the battery but disconnected the positive power cable next to the engine.
    During the process I opened the driver's door a couple of times and heard the fuel pump working, also notice fuel coming out of the fuel line before the injectors.
    Now with the engine ready to start with fresh oil and coolant, I can't get the fuel pump working, the engine cranks but doesn't start. I have checked the fuse (97), the relay (testing out of the car) and also the pump (applying 12V through the relay connectors), all good.
    Reading all the info above I confirmed that my car doesn't have the module as the cable I used to test the pump is blue/white.
    I checked the code errors with INPA and ISTA and nothing related to the fuel system, actually only an old error related to the shift gear.
    In the relay, I found +12V in both terminals to power the relay and tried to observe if the negative terminal changes to zero when the ignition is one but doesn't change.

    Crank no start

    Hello there guys ,I seem to have a similar problem.
    So my vehicle 2009 BMW X5 30iXdrive will not start, I have replaced the Fuel Pump relay, still no start No fuel is pumping ,I used starting fluid which started the car but die out right away.
    I checked fuse 105 20A and noticed it blew, I replaced it and Blew again simply by opening my car door ,I have looked for a Fuel Pump control Module with no luck .(I have checked in the rear seat cushion and in the fuse box area in the back) The car cranks no start. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Opening your car door activates the fuel pump control module. Fuse 105 on your car operates ONLY the fuel pump control module, which in turn, operates ONLY the fuel pump. Therefore, you have a short circuit somewhere between fuse 105 and the fuel pump.

    Likely, there's a wire chewed through by a mouse, or worn through by other means. First try unplugging the fuel pump itself. If the fuse doesn't blow then , you almost certainly need a fuel pump. If the fuse still blows, you have an issue with the wiring, or with the EKPS (fuel pump control module). Hunting down a short circuit in the wiring is never a fun project, but the EKPS is really not a common failure part, so look carefully for faulty wiring, especially around seat hinges and other moving items between the fuse 105 and the EKPS.
