Hi guys, I went to a tire place to get a nail out my tire and they told me that I'd have to get my brakes and rotor serviced soon? So I have no idea what a rotor even is, but when I do break I hear very light screeching and figure I probably should get them serviced. My question is does is matter if i get them done at this shop vs my strictly german car mechanic? btw my car is a BMW 328I 2007 thanks in advance
all cars have the same brakes, any place can do it.
the rotor is the shiny silver disc behind your wheel, its what the brake pad contacts to reduce your speed. The brake pad is in the caliper which is the block attached to the rotor (shiny disc)
Replace your brake parts with factory BMW parts. Not aftermarket parts.
you can use aftermarket parts, its brakes nothing special just get OEM equivalent parts.
Good aftermarket brake parts are just fine; I use them all the time. Do some reading about basic mechanics and how cars work; it will save you a lot of money if you better understand what mechanics are telling you.
Stoptech rotors and HAWK 5.0 pads are the most popular brake components for your car.
I strongly recommend them
