Hi,
I have 325i with n52 engine and problem I have is rough idle and low power at low rpm. There are no error codes stored. But problem goes away when I unplug eccentric shaft sensor. So I looked in ISTA/D live data for valvetronic and it says:
eccentric shaft actual angle 23 degrees
eccentric shaft specified angle 29 degrees
Is this normal or should numbers be the same?
I already changed valvetronic motor and vanos soleonid and nothing changes.
Thank you for your help.
I believe there is a calibration in ISTA where the valvetronic motor learns the upper and lower tolerance. You might need to calibrate it so it reaches the set-point. It might be under service functions.
I already calibrated valvetronic motor and nothing changed. Could it be bad eccentric shaft sensor? Only thing that baffles me, that there are no error codes.
Is there anything else I can check before I change eccentric shaft sensor?
It's odd that you have no error codes, but I've heard of failed eccentric shaft sensors that did not trigger a code. Replacing that seems to be the next logical step. I'm told that the off-brand sensors don't work.
Ok I will replace sensor. Thank you for your help.
Look for oil in the electrical comnector
Yes, look for oil in the connector socket. When my eccentric shaft sensor was bad, I didn't get any codes either. It must have been bad when I bought the car because it had a good bit more power than I knew it to have after the repair.
I checked today for oil in connecter socket and there was a little oil in it. I'm going to replace sensor and hope for the best. Thanks for your help.
