Help? Car will not engage in reverse

Car will not engage when put in reverse.

First thing to check is the level of the fluid in the transmission, assuming it's an automatic. The procedure for checking fluid level is outlined in the owner's manual. Then head straight for a shop. If you're really, really lucky it might be low fluid.
