    Radio replacement

I have a 1993 740iL and I installed an Alpine CDE-SXM145BT in place of the old cassette deck(which worked fine). All hooked up, tuner works fine, hear everything but nothing else works, no BlueTooth, No Sirius, No USB although the files play and the seconds timer counts... All seems to work but no sound. So trying to figure if a radio issue or an install issue. Does this car have an external amp? I don't believe so as I hooked up speaker wires directly to the new unit, and why would the radio work fine?

Anyhow, new to BMWs so learning...

    Thanks

So...for anyone down the road...The white wire on the BMW side has to be connected to the amp-on wire coming out of the radio.. Still not sure how the radio worked and nothing else but..fixed..So there is an external amp and it is triggered but input to the white wire.

Usually the amp (and CD player) is in the trunk, on my 750iL located left side under the parcel shelf, also have seen some E32 whre the amp is located behind the left cover inside the trunk
Shogun tricks and tips for the E32 series are HERE!

Did you use speaker our or RCA out. The Alpine has a pre-amp on speaker out usually. This can blow amps. Best to use RCA out or get a convertor before the amp. I learned this the hard way with my Alpine amp which I now have to fix/replace. The head unit before did not have a pre-amp, no issue.
