Greeting Bimmerites!
I am on my way to buying a used 2013 528i in the next few days ( 80K Kms) ... and am excited as well as intimidated !!
Excited - never seen and driven anything like a Bimmer. Love it !
Intimidated - I hear they require a lot of Maintenance and are complicated piece of machines to fix
I am a diy kinds so I can certainly do somethings... but the fear of clearing codes gets the better of me for a BMW ! Never done this part before ( Acura, Santafe, Honda)
Questions -
-Shall i get an extended warranty ( https://lubrico.com/content/drivers). Is it worth spending the $2000 or so for a 3 Year warranty.
-How difficult is it to clear the codes ( or reset) after a brake job or a battery replacement or an oil change.
As a note of appreciation for this forum, I am sharing a website that I found today which has videos for DIY'ers - https://www.carcarekiosk.com
Cheers n Tks,

Hello and welcome to the forum! There is a ton of knowledge with the members here, so you should find it very useful. The extended warranty isn't a bad idea, and something to consider since you're a new BMW owner and may not be familiar with all the repair procedures. Clearing codes is not difficult, you can buy an reader/scanner and it's pretty much plug and play and there is a lot of info out there - you'll be fine. I'm attaching a link to a great scanner/reader that is specifically made for BMWs. Please let us know if you have any questions and we'll be happy to help.
