    97 M62 cylinder misfire 1 & 2 codes PO301 & PO302

So here is my problem the car runs great in town and on the freeway but when I step on the gas to get her going the engine light comes on and within seconds I lose power. The error codes are misfires on cylinders 1& 2. I have change the throttle and position sensors, cleaned the throttle bodies, swapped coils 1 & 2 and change injector 2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Lou

Hey Lou, I have a similar problem with mine. Ended up being a coil. Now I'm left with a p1145 code?
The generic scanners won't break the issue down, you'll have to get to a shop with a commercial scanner.

That is very likely to be a failing catalytic converter on bank 1. When a high gas flow is produced during harsh acceleration it produces back-pressure which stops complete cylinder evacuation - and that will cause a misfire. If this is the case the situation will slowly get worse. More details here:

    Timm,

First off shame on me for not checking your site before I asked the question. But thanks for reinforcing what I thought might be the problem. Next time I have some issue I know where I should look besides here. I am sure we will do this again another time.

    Thanks very much
    Lou
