Hello Bimmerforums this is my first time posting here and I am very excited to get to know you guys.
So heres my question to all you FI guys, I have a E36 m3 that I got from my cousin for free because it was crashed and he knew I could fix it. And I am in the process but while i am here I was having some turbo thoughts. Is it possible to turbocharge a S52 engine to about 500whp on E85 with a thicker head gasket and ARP head studs. The way that I think is that there are guys pushing about 700 whp on stock compression with forged rods and pistons on e85. So if I leave the stock internals and use a thicker head gasket which will lower my compression to about 9.5/1 and run E85 will it not be safe for about 500whp.
Thanks
you have 2 safe options.
1. spacer/cut ring gasket lowering comp on 93 oct...might need water/meth depending on turbo choice.
2. cut ring stock comp E85.
if E85 is readily available that may be a good option for you. 500 whp is doable on stock internals
there is a ton of information out there...do some research and read some people's build threads, it will help you out immensely.

There's someone here who's running e85 on a completely stock m50, 18psi.
Hes probably making close to 400, I would think.
Im on e85 with a stock s52, cutring and arp head studs. Making around 500.

If you're running only e85 i wouldn't lower the compression. The higher it is the more power you can make on lower boost
