This sounds really dumb, but I cannot for the life of me get the little clear lenses back on over the bulbs. Nothing is bent or broken, just seems to not wanna go back. Is there a special way to press them? Is the gasket/foam seal too thick so I have to push harder? I just really don't want to break something. The latching plastic part snaps in but the metal side just doesn't seem to do anything.

One end should have tabs, while the other has a metal catch. Normally the non-tab side will have a small slot for a flat tipped screwdriver to go in. You have to set the non-tabbed side in first and then push on the metal catch to get the tabbed side to set.
