During Harvey we had to drive thru some not to the tail pipe water. Shortly after car sputtered and shakily died. Light came on. Will not restart, battery drained within 3 hour time frame. Checked air filter to make sure not wet or even damp. Nothing. We are contemplating towing, but read the possible culprit is either the batteru or alternator. Any suggestions before we spend rebuild money on our liability only BMW? TIA
Hello and welcome to the forum! Before spending any money, I would recommend pulling the codes. This should give you a definitive answer as to where the issue is. Hope this helps a bit and best of luck!

If it's caused by water damage then it could be big problems, clearly some one qualified needs to look at this car, call, your insurance
Well, you've said "before we spend rebuild money"......and that's WAY premature. You need a diagnosis, before you start wondering how to deal with it. Have the car flatbedded to a good BMW specialist shop. I fully understand that they are all booked solid right now, but diagnosis comes first.
If you're the type, pray for Florida; they're right behind .
