OK, yes, your situation matches the fix I am doing here. Having the F0 fault is keeping you from clearing the other errors.

PM with your email address and we can continue from there.

I may be needing your service but i live in New zealand i have e36 318ti with a strange srs fault. I have a spare parts car which i hope has a srs module which i hope will work. If not my original module will be taking a small vacation across the planet. Thanks for your time im reasonably new to the bimmer world so bare with me.
    Cheers 😁

The airbag module is in the console just behind the buttons for AC & recirc and ASC/DSC off. Look for a yellow plug.

Thank you looked in from passenger side and there it is. It was masked on driver side by wiring, and the round vented object in the driver side panel. I thank you for your quick reply.

Hi, My car (e39) has developed airbag fault for a while and It is MRSZ4 v3.6. It showed lots of errors and the first one is F0. Lots of google research led me to this very informative thread. I am wondering if you have any solution for MRSZ4 module yet? I have tried replacing the old one with the used one I purchased, but for a little while it produces the similar error codes including F0. I am very hesitant about buying another used part trying to fix airbag fault. Many thanks

What were the other errors? And their frequency? Your car most likely has an accessory or other component making the airbag module going into F0 error. I would get that info first before any other attempt at repair. Throwing another airbag module at it will not solve the actual problem.

I have a 65778386192 and recently got the F0/240 internal error. You know everything about this error if you've made it this far in the thread so I'll post my experience with this error.

<DISCLAIMER: don't do any of the following at home and take your car to appropriate repair facility>

    1. I don't know why I got this error. I hadn't changed out any equipment. I did have a couple broken wires in the floorboard of my car that I repaired and I've had some water under the carpets in the past but this was years before I got the internal error. Perhaps this contributed to the problem. I've also connected and disconnected the battery in my car many times.

    2. The only way to clear this error that I've found is to buy a programmer. I used a CarProg clone from ebay with every connector for it ~ $50 . You only need the A10 connector. I understand XPROG will work too but I didn't use that. I soldered 4 wires of the A10 connector to my board to read and write the eeprom. I made the connections as I show in the attached picture. After connecting everything I connected CarProg to my computer and opened it. In the menu I selected MCU->Motorola->HC12. I clicked the tools icon. I selected device 912B32 (3H91F). I checked both boxes (read/verify and write/verify). I clicked the icon to read the eeprom (it has the blue arrow). I saved my eeprom to a file and edited it with a hex editor (I used the website hexed.it) by changing the beginning of the file to all "F". See the attached pic to see what part I changed to F. I wrote my cleared eeprom to my airbag ecu by opening it in carprog and writing the eeprom using the icon with the lightning bolt.

    3. On the bench (ediabas/tool32) before putting airbag ecu in my car I verified that the internal error was cleared. I then desoldered the wires of a10 from my ECU and put it in my car but the error came back!!! I cleared my eeprom numerous times using various combinations of sensors plugged in or not plugged in to my airbag computer to see when I got the error. I found that when I had everything plugged into my airbag ecu except stage 1 passenger and stage 1 driver that I didn't get the error. So I could have been content and just left these items disconnected from my airbag ecu but I didn't want to keep the airbag light on. To solve this I used BMW Programmer 1.4.0 to disable Airbag Driver Stage 1 and Airbag Passenger Stage 1. You should be able to use NCS Expert for this as well. Airbag light was then cleared with these things unplugged from my airbag ecu!! Just FYI when I left the airbags plugged in I got a clearable error but everytime I restarted the car the airbag light would come back on. BUT I still wasn't satisfied because I want the maximum safety possible from my car. I inspected the circuit board for my airbag ecu and found that one of the box things on the circuit board was not fully connected to the board (see attached pic) so I resoldered it. After doing this my airbag ecu works as normal. I'm not sure how my circuit board was damaged, I think it was probably dropped when I was working on it after I took it out of the car so I don't suspect anyone else would have this particular problem.

    Some random notes:
    * I found it helpful (because I got the internal error many times) to leave my A10 cord soldered to my circuit board while I was testing it in the car.
    * who knows when the internal error will come back!?
    * I thought it was side-impact sensor related previously so I bought some MRSA4-WP (65776910678) for my MRS3 system which uses side impact sensors MRSA3-WP (65776905454). I always wondered if these sensors were compatible with the Z3. Here is the error message you'll get if you do this and this will cause the airbag light to illuminate:

    22 MRSA front left

    Error counter : 1

    error timer start 74.00 Sek.
    error timer stop 0.00 Sek.

    plausibility error
error not active at the moment
    error is not sporadic

That's a good catch, on the solder. I have inspected many, and not all of them are so obvious.
I will be watching for this.

My guess is that you can't send a private message because you have too few posts. I'm not sure... Either way, if you have a question here it is possible others have the same so fire away on the forum here so others may benefit from the answers. Also, I see you have a E39. There seem to be more people discussing this for E39 than for Z3, especially on some foreign message boards. Google translate will help you there.

Yes, use the private message system.

I get them from people with 0 forums posts too. So it works.

Hi Abel, did you receive my PM?

I was working on my stereo (removed an after market stereo at that point) and started my car, the airbag light came on. I don't know why this would be related.

All 3 of my scan tools will not read the SRS module. However, I never tried using them on this car before as I've only had it a short time. 2000 M Coupe. I recently discovered the 20 pin OBD in the engine compartment. I'm also wondering if I have a faulty 20pin adapter cable.

My cheap SRS code clearing tool from Amazon just gives me a flashing E and 10.

I've had mixed luck connecting to the car to read data from it. Sometimes I can connect, sometimes I can't. I guess this car has limited OBD between the two ports.

I tried unplugging the SRS module to see if that would help. Not really. I now have it out of the car. Photo attached.

I'm a little worried about what could possibly by causing this.

Fuse 41 and 42 are tested good.

Please let me know if you can offer any trouble shooting advise. I can't even read the code to see if it's F0.

    Thanks!

Does anyone know the part number of the yellow sleeve that goes over the SRS module plug to lock it in? I sheared the nubs off of mine.

I think the new 20pin OBD adapter solved my issue. I was able to clear airbag light.

I received PM. I am catching up on everything after a trip overseas. I have not forgotten.

I was going to mention if you have connectivity first, but it's hard with tools that cant read more than 1 module.

    Glad it's solved!

    Hi,

I've read here that it's totally different story restoring MRS4. Anyway I've got Xprog v5.55 and two MRS4s with internal error 240. I was wondering if you guys can help me located EEPROM chip and pinout ? Thanks in advance.

Directly to the MCU pins, which on that module, is quite a challenge.

What is a good reader/writer? I've been doinking around with mrsz4 with the 240, got a replacement and it has an error 80 versorgungsspannung" low voltage. NCSEXPERT offers ARB, MRS3.C10, A_MRS3.IPO, C_MRS3.PRG, then ecu rejected. Original and replacement parts are 6920848. I've got USBASP, CH341 Miniprogrammer arduinos out the nose...I've got the printout for the mc68hc912d cip and a clean mrsz4 BIN file. Having trouble getting the chip to chat with the computer and what hex line to add my vin to...any hints would be a relief...

Hello this is my first post. When I bought my e53 it had the airbag light on and it had an internal failure. I bought a module on ebay from Sweden. I put it in and used progman to match it to my x5 and it worked for awhile then I got the internal failure again. 328 Power 04 are you still available to fix my original module ?

QQ - 328 Power 04, I am experiencing the dreaded F0 error. Can you advise if BMW can reset this error or do I need to source a secondhand module?
