Just read through this thread--wow 328 Power 04, what incredible work. You may not be a forensic electrical engineer, but you should be.

    Airbag Light OFF!!

Abel, my Airbag dash light is no longer ON!! I plugged in one of the modules you reset for me and the light is no longer glowing. Your work is historic! Thank you very much for figuring this out. I was thinking that I would have to replace the module with a fresh one for $1000! Let's hope that all of the other drivers with airbag lights on and only retail to consider see this thread. Best regards,
    Donald

Glad to hear it. Yes, there is a 5-10 second boot up time on 'virgin' error cleaned modules. I noticed it happening when testing on my desk. They start processing a bunch of data, and you can hear the processor and circuits working. It then starts the life counter after all the self-checks.

Feel free to scan the module with INPA for anything. Code menu and Status menu should show you everything operating as it should.

Today I found out that the MRSZ3 v3.0 (superseding part; BMW part number 65776908896) can ALSO get the F0 internal fault errors.

I managed to get one of those cleared and working normally as well.

That one (Temic MRSZ4) should be simpler and possible to do through K-Line diag line, instead of direct microprocessor chip access.
I haven't physically tried one of these, but my tools should do it.

    Other air bag modules

Can other part number air bag modules be reprogramed to work in the Z3. When I look on ebay for z-3 air bag modules, all I see are other part number modules listed in the search, not the part numbers for z-3

    Another question

Since my air bag module seems to be defective, before I spend $1000 for a new one, what should I check before installing it. I certainly don’t want to fry the new one?

Well what is the problem with your current one? Every Z3 airbag module that I have been sent so far worked after the microcontroller reprogramming directly on board.

And no, other part numbers will not work. eBay's compatibility charts are wrong. It has to be a Z3 part number.

    - - - Updated - - -

I would be able to tell if it's faulty by connecting to it directly on my desk. Skipping all car harness (potential problems there) and talking to it directly.

Also, I would ask around, as some users sent me multiple and have extras.

    ok... following with fascination...

    question: have a 2000 M roadster...
I would like to purchase a module and have you sprinkle your magic dust on it as a back up...
    what should i look for....

i see in another thread these references:
    BMW PN: 65778386192, (Temic MRSZ3, v2.5)
    BMW PN: 65776908896 (Temic MRSZ3, v3.0)

i'm a tech idiot (among other things) so be patient and use small words..

gladly pay you for your magic...

Those are the correct part numbers, yes.
If you do find one of those modules used with an "Internal Error" or "Crash Data Stored" then I can get those cleared. Otherwise it wouldn't need my fix, they will work (almost) plug and play.

Don't do it, I sent my module to Abel and when it came back I opened the box and had to fight 6 rattlesnakes, 15 tarantulas, and like 4 sun spiders to get the module out.

(not really; the module came back nice and error-free. Abel's awesome. I recommend sending yours in for fixing).

Hi I just bought 2000 m roadster with a bad srs module, the prior owner sent me an uncoded module pn# 65778374799 after I purchased one from a 98 m roadster pn#65778374798 that is still good . If I connect the 98 module will that work and turn off the srs light. If not code you recode the one in the car and the uncoded one I'll give you the extra 98 module . How do you remove the srs control module ?

Both those part numbers are wrong for your car.

Hey Abel, I responded on my other post to you about my airbag light. Do I fall into this category of needing this done to mine?

Yes the E39 used the same type of airbag module, with the same exact issues with internal faults. So it needs the same kind of clearing as the Z3 module.

The mechanic that I had it at, used some snap on scanner and it said F0 internal ecu error
05 ignition circuit ZK4>side airbag front left. Would this cause my intermittent no crank issues? I do know that the previous owner had someone replace window regulators... maybe something got disconnected?
Tell me how I can get this to you if you think you can help me out and price etc..
    Thanks!

The airbag fault will not cause no crank.

The F0 internal ecu error is the main problem and does not allow the airbag module to clear any codes or work properly.

Send me a PM (private message) on here, and we can work something out. I suspect your intermittent no crank may be the EWS module or possibly crankshaft position sensor (if it hadn't been checked). I replied in your other thread.

Abel, I opened INPA to see if I had the F0 code. I've read and cleared engine codes with it before, but where do I read codes related to this system? I noticed there was an airbag section and also a bunch of ABS sections.

I have the intermittant airbag light, especially once the car is warm or the ambient temperature is hot.
