Hey guys I came across what seems like a potential good buy and I wanted some opinions.
First off what Is the general value for a blue 1986 635csi five speed I believe?
Any horrible Gremlins to look for beyond the usual BMW rust, electrical failures and standard mechanical woes?
Car has rust on fenders and quarters from what I can see.

Let me know what you think? Could a car like this handle a winter If'n I asked it to? I'd like to stop driving me 540...

That thing needs serious rust repair, probably wouldn't offer more than 1.6-7k if it drove alright

One thing that would happenis the banjo bolts that hold the oiling tube in place would come loose and or fall out, then the camshaft would not get the correct lubrication and there goes the lobe
I thought the 635csi had ITBs?
Cannot handle snow without dedicated snow tires on all 4.
The "M" engines had ITBs as in M6

That is a euro spec car (grey market), which makes it more desirable than a US spec car. The rust looks really bad though. Do you know which transmission it has? If it has the close ratio dogleg (only available on the euros), buy the car for $2k or less, don't fix the rust, when you are done driving it you can sell the transmission for what you paid for the car.
Thanks for the info guys. Looks like a cool ride but I'll probably pass unless the current parts offer doesn't go through

If anyone needs me to I can inspect it in person for them
Pick it up for $1500, rattle can job and drive it into the ground. A friend of mine got a rusty E28 for $300 and ran it 40k miles with oil changes and no clutch.
nothing can go wrong if you have duct tape

Rust is bad. Get something without the rust.
1977 633 CSi RHD Euro. S38B38 3.9L M5 Transplant. 5 Speed Getrag Dogleg. 3.73 LSD. 417hp, 369lb/ft
1971 3.0CS E3 2dr Alpina Special Coupe Racer, 347hp, 295lb/ft
With that much rust (lots behind the scenes) it's worth less than $1K. Parted much more. The owner is selling the car as a complete running car so the rust puts him a a disadvantage. Parting takes time and money.
I saw additional pictures. it is worse than stated by far. with the approval of the OP, I made him an offer. he rejected it. the drivetrain might be the only worthwhile parts, although we all know the cost of misc bits needed to complete a car.
$500 parts car, if you already have a driver and need some spares.
